Wisely And Slow They Stumble
For this, my first run report, it seems plumbing equipment to include the above quotation. Yesterday was, after all, the 400th anniversary of the decease of Willaim Shakespeare. As for the content.. Well, I'll get to that!
Our Beginning Finishers yesterday did, of course, not stumble! For the men, the first three to finish were equally follows:
Patrick ACAYE (SM30-34) of Brighton Phoenix, was first over the line in sixteen:37 - 2d fourth dimension in ii appearances.
Michael RIX (VM45-49) of Fittleworth Flyers, was second over the line in 17:38 - has been first to finish on 12 previous occasions.
Adam Oliver WHITMEE (SM30-34) of Worthing Striders, was third over the line in 17:57.
And for the women:
Isobel MUIR (VW35-39) of Arena eighty AC, was first (22nd overall) over the line in xx:59 - third time in 27 appearances.

Maartje SLEIJSTER (SW20-24) (Unattached) was 3rd (30th overall) over the line in 21:50.
In total, we had 165 runners, 36 of whom were new to the Prom, and 11 of those were completing their first ever parkrun! Welcome to each and every one of you lot, and we expect forward to seeing you again very soon.
39 PBs were recorded - meaning that well-nigh a quarter of our runners accomplished this amazing feat. Huge congratulations to y'all all!
We were also lucky plenty to have 24 incredible volunteers this week. The event only could not run without each and every one of yous. parkrun, as you know, is committed to ensuring that their events around the world are free, for everyone, forever. If you lot are not currently opted-in to receive volunteer emails from us, please consider doing then! We too had our very commencement Knuckles of Edinburgh volunteer this week - welcome to the team, Juno!
Our volunteers this week were:
Cass CASTLETON • Clare RYAN • David MICKEY • David TURNER • Gareth PERRY • Gonçalo MELO • Juno PHILLIPS • Laura FURSE • Mark BROCKLEHURST • Marker SASO • Michael RIX • Michelle PAULI • Nigel TURLEY • Philippa Balderdash • Rachael WALES • Robbie WHISHAW • Sara CELIK • Stefanie RANSLEY • Sue PINNICK • Vanessa Baker
We take a few special mentions to make this week! 3 runners are approaching a parkrun Milestone, and the opportunity to wear a parkrun Club t-shirt with pride! Matt LEE has completed 47 runs, Andrew CLARK has completed 98, and the incredible John Henry RAMSDEN has completed a whopping 245 runs.
We also had a special request this calendar week: Volition COURAGE, who at non-notwithstanding-thirteen is already a member of the parkrun 50 Lodge, was keen to become sub-20 for the starting time fourth dimension before his thirteenth birthday - which is this week! Nick RIVETT was happy to back up him with pacing, and I am delighted to announce that he knocked an awesome 20 seconds off his Atomic number 82 to complete the run in xix:49. Well done, Volition - and happy birthday!
And now back to Shakespeare: "Wisely and deadening."
Information technology's not e'er easy to go out and run when you know you lot'll be slower than the majority. Many of you will know that I am 1 of those slower runners! I take often been the final finisher, followed by one of our incredible tail runners. The support that parkrunners have given me over the twelvemonth-and-a-bit that I have been attending has to be felt to be believed. And so, without further ado, I'd like to aim the spotlight at some of this week's last finishers!
Liz JUDD, finishing 157th, smashed her previous Lead, taking 1 minute and 17 seconds off to cease in 34.30, and went sub-35 for the outset time.
Cheryl COSTELLO, finishing 158th, obliterated her previous PB, taking FOUR minutes and 14 seconds off to finish in 35:47, pregnant she went sub-twoscore for the beginning time.
Dana VORTKAMP, finishing 159th, took 2 minutes and 14 seconds off her Pb to finish in 35:58. Dana has browbeaten her Atomic number 82 every time she's joined u.s.a. on the Prom!
Dylan MCCARTHY, completing his very get-go parkrun in 37:03 (in the JM10 category) pushed himself for an electrifying sprint stop! We can't await to come across you again, Dylan!
Samantha CLEARY, finishing 162nd, took 6 seconds off her Pb to finish in 37:49. She has as well browbeaten her Lead every fourth dimension she'south joined u.s.a. on the Prom!
Randal KENNERLY, visiting from Peterborough parkrun, crossed the line with aplomb, finishing his first ever Hove Prom run in 42:42 - and promptly turned to welcome our tail-runner-with-a-tail, Frank, across the finish line!
And of course, we cannot forget John Henry RAMSDEN! John completed his 245th parkrun in 46:54.
Following all of those, every bit has been a regular sight in recent weeks, were Robbie WHISHAW and his beautiful beagle, Frank. I for ane think information technology's nigh fourth dimension Frank got his very own high-vis of celebrity!
Last, but not least, I would like to mention our very own Marking and Georgia, who are (every bit I type!) completing the Virgin Money London Marathon. Good luck, both of you lot! Joining them is our parkrun founder, Paul SINTON-HEWITT. Paul is running in support of Alzheimer'south Research UK, who are parkrun'southward official clemency partner, and is challenging the parkrun community to get 100,000 people to donate just £1. His donation page can be found here: Change the donation amount to £1, and don't forget to tell him you're a Hove Prom parkrunner!
That's it from me! Just 1 final discussion of cheers - mine, to Clare RYAN and Mark BROCKLEHURST, for welcoming me into the Hove Prom family and giving me the opportunity to use the loudspeaker
